January 2004 - New Year Goals Happy New Year! As the Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce motto for 2004 says…“We Can Do More in 2004”…not only applies to the Chamber’s goals, but also those of the Partnership. The Partnership has gone through many organizational, behind-the-scenes changes in 2003. We’ve organized our mountain of reference books and files, moved offices, added more board members, launched a web site, established a network with local, regional, state and federal contacts, assumed administration of several City of Monmouth programs, and the list goes on. This past year we’ve laid the groundwork for future successes. read more
February 2004 - Gaining support in Washington I recently returned from a quick trip to Washington, D.C. with fellow Highway 34 Coalition board member and Coalition chairman, Kurt McChesney to meet with our U.S. Senators and their staff about making Highway 34 a priority in the next federal transportation bill. Congressman Lane Evans has asked that $100 million be earmarked for funding the first phase of the U.S. 34 project. His support on this issue has made others take notice at a critical time. read more
March 2004 - Community Assessment Survey The Partnership is striving to open communication lines within the Warren County business community. We have recently partnered with a graduate student class at Western Illinois University to conduct a community assessment survey of Monmouth’s downtown business district. read more
